ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio-- Three people were killed while standing on the side of Interstate 71 in Delaware County Saturday night.

A Chevrolet Trailblazer went off the side of I-71 north in Orange Township and hit a guardrail, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Martin J. Stewart, 60, of Cleveland, and Kim A. Power, 49, of Ontario, Canada, were waiting on the side of the highway when another driver, Adrian D. Brown, 39, of New Lexington, stopped to help.

That's when a Mansfield woman lost control of her Nissan Versa and drove off the side of the road. Troopers said the car hit Stewart, Power and Brown. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Versa suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Ann's Memorial Hospital.

The crash is under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected, according to the highway patrol.
