PARMA, Ohio -- The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed that what appeared to be skeletal remains found behind a Toys R Us in Parma Tuesday are human.

Just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, two teens found the remains hidden in the tall grassy fields behind the shopping center on Day Drive.

The teens immediately called the Parma Police Department.

“The remains are too decomposed to make any type of preliminary identification or age, gender, race, anything like that.  The medical examiner’s office is here; they will take custody of the remains and we will go from there,” Lt. Kevin Riley, with the Parma Police Department said after the find.

Police say parts of the body were scattered throughout the area. Police also found a shoe on one of the feet.

After the medical examiner's office concludes its investigation, police will be able to conduct additional tests on the evidence.
