CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Here we go again: It's Indians Opening Day take 2.
Due to the weather, the Indians postponed Monday's opener and rescheduled it for this afternoon at 1:10 p.m. Gates will open at 11 a.m.
On Tuesday morning, Curtis Danburg, senior director of communications with the Indians, told FOX 8's Jessica Dill that after looking at the scenarios of precipitation and cold weather combined, along with player safety, it didn't make sense to play on Monday afternoon.
Thousands of fans were left in the cold and disappointed after the game was postponed shortly before it was set to begin.
As for why the game was canceled so close to first pitch? Danburg said, "Obviously the magnitude of Opening Day, we want to wait as long as possible to make that decision. We don't want to have a knee-jerk reaction in the morning and with Cleveland weather, you never know; forecasts change, so we waited as long as we can but we had to do it and wanted to do it before the gates opened. We didn't want to make that even worse by people coming in the ballpark and spending money and all of that, so we were able to do it before gates opened."

Danburg said the Indians are just as upset and disappointed as the fans. The team reworked its ticket exchange options.
