WILDWOOD, NJ -  A touching honor for a slain Ohio K9 officer and his partner in New Jersey.

Canton police officer Ryan Davis accepted a Medal of Valor award on Jethro's behalf given by the Boardwalk Kennel Club of Cape May and the American Kennel Club in Wildwood, NJ Saturday. It was presented during the Boardwalk Kennel Club's All-Breed Dog Show.

Jethro was shot and killed in the line of duty in January. Officer Davis was partnered with a new K9, Tuko later that month. Tuko was also at the award presentation Saturday, and was given his own special treat: a Tuko-sized, monogrammed dog bed, donated by Big Barker.

Officer Davis, when asked about the award for Jethro, said the day was, “Bittersweet. It is an honor that I'd rather not have. I would rather have him here with us today. But we want to celebrate his service, dedication and everything that he meant to us as an officer, friend and family member.”
