PARMA, Ohio–  The folks who run the Polish Village in Parma Facebook page clearly have a sense of humor.

On Friday, April Fools’ Day, they posted plans have been announced for a plastic flamingo petting zoo at the site of the former Parma Theatre. Funds from last year’s pierogi tax will pay for the project, the page said.

The phony park proposal was met with some enthusiasm.

“Can this be a thing, for real please?” one woman wrote. “Put in benches and make it a reading garden! Not a funny joke, only because I wish it were true!”

The Parma Theatre doesn’t even exist. The historic movie house was demolished after it was damaged by a fire in November 2012.
