HUNTINGTON BEACH, California – A police officer in California jumped into action when an 11-year-old girl was in need.
According to ABC News, the girl and her mother were found living in their car in Huntington Beach.
As one officer assisted the mother in finding housing, another officer stepped in to help entertain and distract the girl.
That’s when he broke out the chalk for a game of hopscotch. Another officer caught the game on video.
“I had to check the welfare of the little girl, so I have to earn her trust and get her comfortable with me first,” the officer told ABC News.
He said that as he got to know the girl and spoke with her more, he was surprised by her “happy-go-lucky attitude.”
“And I just want to say that this is the kind of thing a lot of cops in communities across the country do every day,” he added. “It just so happened my buddy was messing around and happened to capture it on film.”
