AKRON, Ohio -- Police have identified the 17-year-old girl who was killed by a suspected drunk driver Sunday morning as Patricia N. Powell, of Akron.

Powell, an Ellet High School student,  was traveling in the eastbound lane of I-76 approaching exit 24 around 2:15 a.m.

She was pulled over on the side of the road in the shoulder lane when she was struck from behind by a 63-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Equinox.

That driver, a male from Tallmadge, was also hurt and taken to the hospital. No charges have yet been filed.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor, but the investigation is ongoing.
