NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Nashville couple won’t be able to keep the car they paid cash for because of some odd circumstances.

According to WKRN, two men rented a Chevrolet Suburban from a local enterprise and sold it to a man for $30,000 cash.

Kyle Whitlow told police he was suspicious after meeting the man selling the car in a parking lot. Whitlow said the man took the cash without counting it and just got into another car.

When Whitlow tried to get the title put into his name, he noticed the car was owned by EAN Holdings LLC,  later finding out that is the company behind Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Police took the car, finding it had the wrong license plate. It belonged to a family in Illinois who didn’t even notice it was gone until police arrived.

Police eventually traced the rental back to a counter at the Nashville airport, finding the two men came in on a flight from Houston that had a layover in Florida.
