CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Indians have announced some new safety measures for the new season to comply with Major League Baseball’s new ‘Fan Safety Initiative.’

Opening Day is Monday, April 4.

According to a release from the team, the plans include expanding the existing safety netting at Progressive Field.

The netting will be extended to now cross the full length between the home plate side of each dugout.

The canopy that protected seats behind home plate in previous seasons also will be extended.

The Indians say they’ve started a proactive communication process to alert all Indians season ticket holders whose seats are affected by the expansion.
