COVINGTON, Ky.  — An Ohio man who challenged a police officer to shoot him following a chase has been convicted of killing another man in Kentucky.

Michael Alan Wilcox of Mount Orab, Ohio, pleaded guilty last week in Kenton County Circuit Court to killing Zachary Gilkison of Elsmere.

Wilcox is to be sentenced March 28. He previously was sentenced to at least 18 years in the April 2015 death of his girlfriend, Courtney Fowler. Fowler’s shooting occurred the same day that Gilkison’s body was found.

The Kentucky Enquirer reports Wilcox fled after investigators found him in a vehicle near Fowler’s Mount Orab home.

Police body camera footage showed Wilcox charge at a New Richmond, Ohio, officer and scream “shoot me.” The officer held Wilcox at gunpoint and talked to him until other officers arrived.
