COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities in South Carolina responded to reports of shots fired at a mall in the suburbs outside the capital city.

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook says no one appears to have been injured when a fist fight turned into shooting at a mall outside South Carolina’s capital city.

Holbrook said two men fired guns in the air just after 7 p.m. Saturday in front of a jewelry store at the Columbiana Centre mall. Holbrook says the dispute started as a fight between two people, and another joined in.

Holbrook says officers have not found any of the three people they think are involved. He says officers have checked all local hospitals and not found anyone who had been shot.

The chief says officers want to review surveillance video soon. Two hours after the shooting, Holbrook says people were still hiding inside stores.
