Local ‘Idol’ contestant on experience: ‘It was awesome’
Ashtabula native Tywan “Tank” Jackson didn’t make it past the Hollywood round in his hopes of becoming the next American Idol. BUt he came back with lots of stories and says his experience was positive, adding “It was fast-paced and on the go. It was hurry up and wait.” He’s not just a good singer — he’s a good dancer and busted a move on Fox 8 News in the Morning today. Watch here. 

New Hampshire voters take part in primary election
New Hampshire voters will make their choice for president in the first-in-the-nation primary contest that polls suggest could deliver victory to a pair of outsider candidates, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders. Polls opened across most of the Granite state at 8 a.m. ET, though a trickle of voters made it to the polls in the traditional curtain raiser of Dixville Notch not far from the Canadian border just after midnight. In that snow-bound hamlet, Ohio Gov. John Kasich bested Trump 3-2 among Republicans, while Sanders claimed all four votes among Democrats.

Ohio’s first case of Zika virus confirmed in Cleveland woman
The Ohio Department of Health is reporting the state’s first case of Zika virus in a Cleveland woman returning from Haiti. According to a release from the health department, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention previously reported 35 cases of the Zika virus in the United States.

Johns Hopkins approved to perform HIV-positive to HIV-positive organ transplants
Doctors at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore have been given the okay to become the first hospital in the country to perform HIV-positive to HIV-positive organ transplants. Until the HOPE Act — HIV Organ Policy Equity Act — passed in 2013, doctors were prevented from using organs from HIV-positive donors, even if they were intended for an HIV-positive patient. Now that’s no longer an issue.
