Dog may to be to blame for Youngstown infant’s death, police say

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio– Police in Youngstown are investigating the disturbing death of a child who was just days old.

The 3-day-old infant died at a house on Valorie Drive in Youngstown early Sunday morning, WKBN reported. Baby Aiden came home from the hospital the night before.

The 21-year-old mother told officers a dog bit Aiden while he while sleeping in a makeshift crib.

The Mahoning County Dog Warden removed the animal. It will remain in their custody for at least the next 10 days.

The coroner’s office will determine the cause of death, while Youngstown police will hand the case over to the prosecutor’s office to decide if charges will be filed.
