One scientist is calling on NASCAR to go green by using electric cars.

Time reports that Bill Nye says NASCAR should become part of the fossil fuel solution, not part of the problem.

Nye says the cars would be faster and more quiet if they were electric. He said you could talk to the person next to you and that the drivers also probably could hear the roar of the crowd.

Fans also wouldn’t smell gasoline.

Drivers could still go pretty fast. One Tesla model can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in about three seconds.

NASCAR has not responded to Nye’s remarks.
