HOLLYWOOD, CA – Stars Hollow without Sookie? It’s happening. And actress Melissa McCarthy says there’s a good reason for it.

Nobody asked her to be in the four 90-minute episodes.

Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino says that they’d have loved to work McCarthy into the shows, if she had the time, given her very busy schedule.

McCarthy, however, begs to differ, and tweeted this out:

Sherman-Palladino told BuzzFeed, “[T]he thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene,’” she said. But it’s not really clear whether she actually asked if McCarthy would make herself available for the role again.

She does promise that Sookie’s absence will be properly explained in the series, which started filming February 2nd in Los Angeles.
