CLERMONT, Fla.– A Florida day care worker is facing charges after police say she was caught on video beating a 4-year-old child.

Another employee of the Children’s Palace Learning Center in Clermont recorded Kimberly Reid hitting the boy with toys and her hands, police said. Officers described the video as difficult to watch.

“It looked like he was maybe laying on a like a children’s mat, like for nap time,” Officer Erin Razo told FOX 35 in Orlando. “She walked over and was striking him several times with stuffed animals. Then from one point in the video, you can see her actually pick the child up and drop him from about 2 to 3 feet onto that mat.”

Reid, who is the director of the day care, is charged with child abuse.

FOX 35 reported Reid has a criminal record. She pleaded guilty to grand theft and welfare fraud.
