LAKE COUNTY, OH - FirstEnergy was reporting Wednesday night that over 46,000 residents in Lake County lost power.

A FirstEnergy spokesperson tells Fox 8 that the outage was caused by an equipment failure, which in turn caused two high voltage lines to fail. Because of that, 2 sub-stations went offline.

They are going to be switching all the affected homes and businesses to different substations. By Thursday morning, power had been restored.

The hardest hit communities were Mentor, Mentor on the Lake, Grand River, Perry and Painesville Township.
