Georgia psychiatrist arrested after 36 of his patients died

JONESBORO, Georgia – Dr. Narendra Nagareddy, a psychiatrist, was arrested this week after 36 of his patients died and 12 of those deaths were determined to be overdoses of prescription medicine.

According to CBS 46, his office was raided by DEA agents on Thursday.

He is accused of violating Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act.

“The search warrant [alleges] 36 of his patients have died, 12 of whom were autopsied with cause of death being overdose on prescription medication,” said the Clayton County District Attorney.

Dr. Nagareddy has been practicing since 1999 and has no criminal background or disciplinary issues.

The investigation is ongoing.
