WINDSOR, Ohio — Firefighters came to the rescue of a lost dog stuck on a ledge a day after he was involved in a car crash with his owners.

According to the Windsor Fire Department’s Facebook page, a vehicle went over an embankment at South Wiswell Road area on Jan. 10 due to icy conditions.

During the crash, the family’s dog, a rat terrier named Darra,  ran away from the scene.

The next day, a road supervisor spotted the dog near the crash scene, but it ran away when he tried to retrieve it.

Firefighters went to the area and found that the dog had gone over the lip of a gorge and was hung up on a ledge. Windsor, along with Middlefield Fire Department, responded to retrieve the dog using ropes.

Darra was brought back to the fire station and ate some food before she was reunited with her owners.
