AKRON- Some Akron workers engaged in a "heated" competition, but it was all for a good cause. The 10th annual Firefighter's chili challenge was held at Lock 3 in Akron Friday. Akron firefighters, who have been past winners, challenged others to prepare the best chili in town.
Five other competitors were willing the "spice it up" to take on the famous firehouse chili makers. Ten dollars bought six servings of chili, with all proceeds benefiting Akron Children's Hospital's Burn Unit. Everyone, not just the celebrity judges, got a chance to vote for the best chili.
Both the Judges’ Choice and the People’s Choice award went to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. The event raised more than $1,900 for Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Unit.
