BRITAIN — A British couple is celebrating the birth of two new puppies, after paying more than $100,000 to clone their late beloved boxer, Dylan.
The Guardian reports that Richard Remde and Laura Jacques recently lost Dylan after he was diagnosed with cancer.
They gave his DNA to South Korean Sooam Biotech Research Foundation, hoping they’d be able to clone their dog. They were told last month the procedure resulted in two pregnancies in surrogate dogs.
Chance was born Saturday by Cesarean section. Shadow was born naturally on Monday. The Guardian reports that both are perfectly healthy.
They also are marked identically to Dylan.
The couple actually has a Twitter account where they’ve documented the whole process.
Awww, my mate Nathan just woke me up at 5 am, South Korea, and told me my second clone puppy #Shadow is being born! wOOf woof…<3
