Searching for a murderer: Could something teen said before horrific death lead to killer?

COURTLAND, Mississippi--  It's been one year since 19-year-old Jessica Chambers was brutally murdered in Mississippi.

A year later, authorities are still trying to catch the person who set the teenager on fire and left her to die.

They are also trying to figure out if something Jessica reportedly said to first responders before her death could provide a clue to her killer. PEOPLE says, according to a source at the scene, the teen said a man's name, either "Eric" or "Derrick."   The reason behind that word remains a mystery.

District Attorney John Champion told PEOPLE that 17 suspected gang members were recently arrested. He does not believe any of the arrests will be directly tied to the Jessica Chambers case, but, he said, "in their plea negotiations, all will be given the opportunity to help themselves – and maybe that will bring us closer to the truth."
