AUSTIN, Texas– A woman, who used to be a math teacher in Austin, Texas, was arrested and charged with having inappropriate relationships with two 17-year-old students.

KVUE reports that Haeli Wey, 28, was charged with two felony counts of improper relationship between educator and student.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by KVUE,  the first student said he met Wey through a student ministry program, and that she went on a summer vacation to Africa with his family.

The student claimed he was physically intimate with Wey about 10 times. He reportedly ended things with Wey when “he found out she had been on a hike with another student.”

According to the affidavit, a second student said he kissed Wey in a hammock after meeting her at summer camp. KXAN reports that the teen said he didn’t know Wey was a teacher at his school until the next school year. Authorities learned of the allegations when school officials got word of possible inappropriate text messages between the two.

The high school teacher was immediately removed from the classroom during the investigation and she has since been fired. The school called the accusations “shocking and upsetting.”
