North Carolina woman to face judge after posting photo of dog with mouth taped shut

CARY, North Carolina – Katharine Lemansky with appear in court Monday on charges of animal cruelty after posting a photo on her Facebook page showing her dog’s mouth duct-taped shut, according to TODAY.com.

A photo was posted on a Facebook page under the name Katie Brown.

The caption read, “This is what happens when you dont shut up!!!” The photo was shared hundreds of thousands of times. She wrote a second message on Facebook: “Dont panic everyone it was only for a minute but hasnt barked since… POINT MADE!!!”

After an investigation, police discovered her real name and the 45-year-old was found and arrested in Cary, North Carolina. She was charged with one count of cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor, after police said she admitted the incident took place in Cary.

Police said the charge carries a fine and possibly up to 150 days in jail.
