AKRON, Ohio– Akron police have released new surveillance video of the suspects in a pair of Dollar General armed robberies which they say are connected to the murder of pizza shop employee Monday night.
The first video is from the robbery of the Family Dollar on South Main Street on Saturday.
The pair entered the store around 8:30 p.m. They were carrying handguns, one of which was pointed at the clerk’s head. The clerk gave them the money. The second suspect shot at the clerk as the pair left the building.
The second robbery was the next day at the Family Dollar on Tallmadge Avenue.
Again, both suspects had handguns and one of them pointed their gun at the clerk’s head, demanding money. The clerk complied, but the suspect pistol whipped the clerk before leaving the store.
The pizza shop shooting happened on Monday at Premium New York Style Pizza on East Glenwood Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. Video from inside the pizza shop shows the suspect walk into the family-owned business with a gun pointed at the employee. The worker puts up his hands and then gives the robber money from the register. The employee, 21-year-old Zakareia Husein, of Springfield Township, was shot in the stomach and later died.
Police consider both of these suspects to be armed and dangerous and are warning anyone who sees them to call 911 immediately. Under no circumstances should anyone try to approach the suspects. The Summit County Crimestoppers and the U.S. Marshals Office Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force are offering a reward in this case.
Husein’s family is also offering a $50,000 reward in this case.
