BEREA, Ohio– Austin Davis will start at quarterback on Sunday when the Cleveland Browns play the Cincinnati Bengals.
This is his ninth NFL start and his first as a Brown.
“Austin took advantage of his opportunity on Monday night. He was prepared, played well and put us in position to win,” Browns head coach Mike Pettine said. “He’s been great in the quarterback room all season and he has earned the right to start on Sunday. We expect him to play well.”
Davis came into the game Monday when Josh McCown injured his collarbone and threw at 42-yard touchdown pass to Travis Benjamin in the 33-27 loss.
Johnny Manziel will be the backup QB, the team said.
