1 dies after car hits gas line, utility pole in Solon

SOLON, Ohio — One person was killed in a crash on Solon Road early Wednesday morning.

According to a release from police, it happened at around 1:30 a.m.

A white 2001 Buick Century sedan went off the right side of the road on Solon Road between Hawthorne Parkway and Richmond Road. The car hit an above ground gas line and then a utility pole.

The driver, a 25-year-old male, was already dead when officers arrived at the scene.

The passenger, also a 25-year-old male, was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

A portion of Solon Road was closed between 1:47 a.m. and 6:07 a.m. while the crash was being investigated and to allow repairs to the gas line.

The cause of the accident is unknown.
