MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland – Cookie had been missing since October 2014, but thanks to another dog, the pup was rescued from a storm drain in Maryland this week.

The Wheaton Terrier was hiding under a street in a storm drain when a neighbor walking his dog noticed him.

“I went over and I just saw a dog in there,” Nick told WJLA-TV. “[It was] pretty beat-up looking.”

First firefighters used saws to cut out the drain covers, they then spent hours trying to lure Cookie out.

Food wasn’t working, so they eventually forced him out one side by putting a hose through the other end to push him out.

He was picked up by his owner on Friday and is recovering well.
