Cleveland: two dead in Friday night shootings

CLEVELAND –  The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide unit is investigating two deadly shootings.

The first shooting occurred at 8:45 Friday evening, when a 41-year-old man was shot by a man while he was watching a basketball game in a home at 1210 E. 87th Street. Others in the house at the time told police that the suspect began acting strangely and pulled out a gun. He shot the victim, shot at the others in the house and fled the home.

While the police were on the scene, the suspect returned, unarmed. He was arrested, Police suspect that he might have been under the influence of PCP. The gun he used has not been recovered yet.

The other homicide happened about two hours later, on East 71st Street. A 24-year-old man was found lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Although witnesses heard the shots, they were unable to give a description of the shooter. The victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
