BILLINGS, Mont.– She’s a big puppy with a big appetite.
One Montana family could not figure out why their Saint Bernard puppy would yelp every time she ate. They took Willow to two different veterinary clinics in Billings, but it left experts scratching their heads.
“We actually said ‘It would be great if there was just something in there I could pull out,'” Dr. DJ Smithtold WTVQ in Billings.
X-rays found nothing and medications didn’t provide the pup any relief. That’s when vets used an endoscope to make a startling discovery.
“When they said a stick, I was thinking a twig,” said Willow’s owner, Marissa McKittrick.
The stick was 14 inches long, more than half the length of the dog’s body. The procedure to remove it took about 20 minutes.
