Elyria man accused of 14th OVI

ELYRIA, Ohio- An Elyria man with 13 OVI convictions was arrested again on Wednesday.

Police said Dion T. Hicks, 51, was driving over the yellow line on state Route 57 and nearly hit a barrier. When the officer turned on his overhead lights, Hicks sped up, but eventually stopped near Shadden Road.

According to the police report, the car smelled of alcohol and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Hicks failed part of the field sobriety test and refused to complete it.

Hicks was already driving under a suspended license with 13 operating a vehicle under the influence convictions since 1988. He was charged with OVI and failure to comply with a police order.
