MEIGS CO., Ohio -- An Ohio community is mourning after a 9-year-old boy collapsed and died after a youth football practice Monday night.

WSAZ reports that the Big Bend Youth Football team was having a light practice just before 7:30 p.m.

While the team was taking a break, Wyatt Barber collapsed. People began performing CPR and called 911. He was rushed to the emergency room, but died shortly after.

"To have a death like that is just a terrible thing to see happen," say Sheriff Keith Wood. "We are family here, and were very closely connected in our community."

Wood said he's not aware of Wyatt having any health issues or heart problems.

An exact cause of death is pending.
