OHIO  - Election day is quickly approaching and there are several statewide and local issues on the ballot.

Statewide, Issues 1, 2 and 3 are all proposed amendments to the Ohio constitution.

Issue 1: Creates bipartisan process for legislative districts

Issue 2: Anti-monopoly amendment

Issue 3: Legalizes marijuana for recreational and medicinal use

In Cuyahoga County, Issue 8 is asking for a renewal and not a tax increase.

The issue asks voters to decide whether to renew a 1.5 cent per cigarette tax in Cuyahoga County that amounts to thirty cents on a typical pack of cigarettes.

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. throughout the state. For more information on the election, click here to head to the Ohio Secretary of State’s website.

Akron voters will also have a new Mayor this fall, following former Mayor Don Plusquellic's retirement and Garry MoneyPenny's resignation. Republican attorney Eddie Sipplen and Democrat Summit County Clerk of Courts Dan Horrigan had their final debate about three weeks ago. The third candidate, independent Bill Melver, was not in that debate.
