Police arrest five in assaults tied to Elyria gang

ELYRIA, Ohio- Elyria police have five suspects in custody, including four juveniles, after two robberies last week.

Officers responded to two incidents on  Middle Avenue on Oct. 16 between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. According to the Elyria Police Department, in both cases, a group of males assaulted and robbed the victims.

Investigators found the robbery suspects are involved in the M.O.M, or Money Over Most, street gang.

Police arrested 18-year-old Deion Thompson, of Elyria, on charges of robbery, aggravated rioting and participating in a criminal gang. Three 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old were also arrested on similar charges.

The four juveniles were taken to the Lorain County Detention Home, while Thompson was transported to the Lorain County Jail.
