CLEVELAND – Thousands of local breast cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and corporate and community members headed to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Sunday morning – all for a great cause.

They took part in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k Walk. Fox 8’s Tracy McCool was the emcee of the event, which took walkers right by the zoo’s tigers, bears and gorillas!

Last year, 6,000 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer participants raised more than $500,000 in Northeast Ohio for the American Cancer Society.

Akron’s event is slated for October 25th at Canton McKinley High School.
