VERMILION, Ohio--  Today was the 43rd year for the largest one-day festival in Ohio-- Woollybear! Thousands came out to enjoy the day.

Today, Dick Goddard brought all the fun from downtown Vermilion.

It all started when Dick began the festival as a PTA fundraiser with friends Big Chuck and Little Jon in 1973.

From caterpillar races, to costumes, to the big parade, to your favorite FOX 8 personalities--today was a great day!

Jungle Terry and his furry friends were in attendance.

Ace Molar, a band lead by Fox 8's own Todd Meany, was also there to provide entertainment.

This year Dick predicts we will have above normal temps and below normal snow fall!

The Woollybear Festival has always been a town favorite. “The merchants absolutely love this event," Sandy Coe of the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce said. “Woollybear has put Vermilion on the map. The merchants tell me how well they do during Woollybear and as people are walking around they come back to Vermilion. Maybe they didn't know Vermilion was here; we're one of the best-kept secrets around."
