ARMONA, Calif. — A California man now has another chance to get to know his daughter after reuniting with her 20 years later through Facebook.
Michael Hatton hadn’t seen his daughter since she was adopted as a baby.
“I always had her on my mind. I always missed her, and I always loved her,” Hatton told ABC 7.
Hatton said the adoption was supposed to be temporary but ended up being permanent.
Twenty years later, Danielle Cossey found her brother who had also been adopted. He passed away not long ago, and that spurred her to look for her birth parents.
Cossey posted a photo of her and her biological mother on Facebook and within two hours, the shares connected her with an uncle and a sister she never knew about. Shortly after, she also found her dad.
Cossey spoke with ABC 7 via skype, “It was a mixed feelings kind of thing. I have waited for this moment for so long. I’ve always wondered and all I could do is cry; I was just happy.”
Cossey said she hasn’t been able to find her mom, but she wants to visit her dad soon.
Even though she lost the last 20 years, Cossey said there is time to make up for that including introducing her young son to his grandfather.
