Medical examiner identifies cyclist killed in Brecksville crash

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio- The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified the cyclist killed in a crash in Brecksville.

The crash happened in the area of Snowville and Dewey roads just after 7 p.m. Thursday when a pick-up truck and five cyclists collided.

According to the medical examiner's office, 33-year-old Matthew Billings, of Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other cyclists were taken to area hospitals.

While the crash remains under investigation,  Brecksville Prosecutor Sergio Digeronimo told FOX 8 News, "There are many variables to an accident, speed driver intention, environment sun glare .. those are all important elements and we're going to be looking into each and every one of those."

Matt Billings' employer, The Bernie Moreno Company, released the following statement:

"On behalf of Bernie Moreno the entire Bernie Moreno Company's family is deeply saddened by the loss of our team member, colleague, and friend Matt Billings.  Matt was an exceptional team member well respected by everyone in our company and he will be dearly missed.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Rebecca, his daughter Evelyn and the entire Billings family. We have been in communication with his family throughout the day providing any and all support for them during this tragic time."
