WILLOWICK, OH -  A fire that broke out early Wednesday morning has heavily damaged a popular family restaurant.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible at the back of Petie's Family Restaurant, in the Shoregate Shopping Center, shortly after midnight.  Crews worked to get the blaze under control and to make sure that it did not spread to other businesses in the shopping center. Firefighters from  Eastlake, Wickliffe, Kirtland, Euclid, Mentor, Willoughby Hills, Willougbhy, Highland Heights, and Richmond Heights were called in to assist.  The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes.

No one was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to the crews fighting it.

The building itself is heavily damaged and the Willowick fire chief tells Fox 8 that the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
