HANOVER, Va.- A Virginia dad came up with a creative way to make his 13-year-old daughter work off a $500 cell phone bill.

Jared Cramer locked up the teen’s closet and allowed her the basic necessities, like soap and a toothbrush. But everything else is labeled with the number of chores she has to do to earn it back.

She thought after I got that bill it was going to be a slap on the wrist, you know, don’t let it happen again type deal thing. But I think she’s been taking it pretty well,” Cramer told WWBT.

Julia woke up at 6:30 this morning when I woke up, and she started doing chores. And she’s been working ever since,” Cramer said. “She said, ‘You know what dad? I know you love me, I know I messed up, and I’m gonna work this off.'”

Cramer said his daughter, who is an honor student and works with special needs children, has a terrific work ethic.
