Final scores: Wrapping up week #2 of high school football

CLEVELAND – Week 2 of high school football is wrapping up today and there are 11 area games throughout the afternoon and tonight.

In the afternoon, Chipewa topped Beachwood 63-7 while Elyria Catholic defeated Cleveland Central Catholic 37-8.

Another big win came to Mogadore as they defeated Gilmour 41-17. Shaker Heights toppled East Tech 42-0.

Two more wins for University School and Villa Angela – St. Joseph. University defeated Youngstown-East 43-28 and VASJ shut out John Adams 41-0.

On Friday, our cameras featured the number two team in the Fox 8 Top 8,St. Ignatius traveled to meet the number 3 ranked Cardinals of Mentor for the Game of the Week. Both teams had strong opening weeks as Mentor debuted sophomore quarterback Tadas Tatarunas and St. Ignatius’ ground game overwhelmed Normandy.

The game was a tough match-up, but the points kept rolling in. Mentor defeated St. Ignatius 63-56, scoring the game-winning touchdown with just 8 seconds left.
