CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court judge admitted his guilt this morning in a domestic violence case.

Judge Lance Mason and his attorneys were in court this morning, when he entered a guilty plea to charges of an attempted felonious assault and a domestic violence charge.

The judge could face prison time when he is sentenced next month.

Mason was arrested by Shaker Heights police last August.

The charges stem from an argument that allegedly started in a car then escalated. Mason is accused of punching, choking and biting his wife.

Part of the alleged assault happened in Shaker Heights. Mason was later arrested at his home in Cleveland.

Mason’s children were present during part of the alleged assault, officials have said.

Mason’s defense attorney said his 46-year-old client is a former state senator and has no violence in his past with no desire to hurt himself or anyone else.‎
