Traffic restrictions in downtown Cleveland for GOP debate

CLEVELAND- There will be road closures in downtown Cleveland for the Republican presidential debate today.

Cleveland city officials advise drivers to expect delays around Quicken Loans Arena, where the top 10 GOP candidates will square off at 9 p.m.

Starting at 9 a.m., Huron Road between East 7th Street and Ontario Street will be closed. The corner of Huron and Prospect will also be shut down, while motorists will have limited access to the Gateway parking garages.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority said the walkway between the Q and Tower City will be closed all day.

Wednesday, hundreds of technicians were setting up outside the Q for the debate, with even more reporters and camera crews coming in Thursday.
