CANTON,  OH – In a matter of seconds, a quiet Wednesday was quickly disrupted after a van crashed into a store inside a shopping plaza in Canton.

What’s more surprising than the crash itself, is what happened next.

The driver was spotted on security cameras leaving his passenger behind and then taking off.

According to Lieutenant Lisa Brouker with the Canton Police Department, he hasn’t been seen since.

"We are looking for the driver still, we don't have the driver. We have a passenger who is cooperating, but if anybody sees any tan vans with any heavy front end damage, we would like to get that information ,” she said.

Thankfully no one was hurt, but there was a lot of damage.

The store had to board up its windows and the wall next to Metro PCS, the store next door, was knocked down.

FOX 8 wasn’t able to speak with the owners, but was told the place hasn’t officially open yet and was waiting for a final inspection.

It’s apparently going to be some kind of restaurant and deli.

"If I was in there, I probably would've been shook,” said Tasia Lowery who works at Metro PCS.

She said she didn’t see much, but her coworker Gerson Munoz did. He said it was pretty crazy.

“When we went out we saw like, the place next door completely destroyed and our wall was destroyed too,” he said.

He said he’s just glad everyone is okay. The situation could’ve been a lot worse.

Anyone with information on the driver’s whereabouts is asked to call Canton Police at 330-489-3100.
