Elderly residents fall victim to distraction burglary in Richfield

RICHFIELD, Ohio- Police are warning residents after a series of distraction burglaries targeting the elderly.

Richfield police said jewelry and cash were stolen from an elderly couple last week.

The victims told officers that four men came to the front door and said they were looking at property markers for utility work. According to police, two men spoke with the residents while the others stole items from inside the home.

The suspects were driving a newer-model, black SUV with tinted windows.

Similar incidents were reported in cities around Richfield. In those cases, the suspects offered lawn and tree-trimming services.
