CLEVELAND- Almost exactly two years after escaping more than a decade of abuse at the hands of Ariel Castro, Gina DeJesus  and Amanda Berry spoke to Robin Roberts in an ABC 20/20 exclusive interview.

Robin asked each of them if they have forgiven Castro; each had a different answer.

Amanda said, “I thought about that a lot. In this situation, I feel like, no, I could never forgive him. I mean, he took my mom from me; I’ll never get to see her again.”

When talking about Castro killing himself behind bars, Gina said she thinks he took the easy way out and wishes he would have suffered like they did. However, Gina said she has forgiven him. “I think that you have to forgive in order to move on with your life.”

Amanda and Gina, along with Michelle Knight were held hostage for more than a decade in Castro’s Cleveland home on Seymour Ave. They escaped on May 6, 2013.

Amanda and Gina talk more about their capture and escape in their new story, “Hope: A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland,” that was released on Monday. Michelle wrote a memoir of her own, called “Finding Me.”
