MENTOR, OH – In the end, it was the license plate that gave her away.

Mentor police solved a hit and run crash on Saturday all because of a license plate imprint left on the van that was hit. The driver of the van reported that he was hit from behind on State Route 2. He lost control of his van and it rolled over. The vehicle that hit him left the scene.

When police got there though, they noticed that the suspect vehicle, upon hitting the van, had left a perfect imprint of the raised part of its license plate on the rear bumper of the van. The entire plate was readable.

Officers were able to locate the suspect at her home in Mentor.  Breanne Rubbelke, 25, was taken into custody for OVI, assured clear distance ahead and leaving the scene of an accident.
