Police investigate if 9-year-old boy was hit, killed while running from bully

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — Police are investigating if a 9-year-old boy who ran in the street and was struck by a city dump truck was trying to get away from a bully.

Police tell the Fox 8 I-Team they are looking into an allegation that Devion Lesure was being bullied.

The 9-year-old was struck by the city vehicle last Friday. It happened on Hayden Avenue between 1st and 2nd avenues.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating ‎ the crash. No charges have been filed.

The boy was taken to University Hospitals and died Tuesday, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
