Two killed, two injured in Medina County crash

LITCHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio- Two women were killed in a two-car crash in Medina County this weekend.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday on state Route 83 and West Smith Road in Litchfield Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a 84-year-old Wellington man driving a van didn’t stop at a stop sign and hit a PT Cruiser.

Both people inside the PT Cruiser were ejected as the car rolled several times. The driver, 25-year-old Jessica Shortland, of Wakeman, and the passenger, 36-year-old Mary Curney, of Elyria, were taken to Media Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the van and his 80-year-old passenger were taken to Medina Hospital, then to MetroHealth Medical Center with serious injuries.
