CLEVELAND – A standoff on Cleveland’s west side closed West 150th Street at Industrial Parkway this morning. Around 2:30 p.m., Cleveland police said the standoff was over and the suspect was taken in without incident.

It began last night around 7 p.m. when officers responded to calls of a suicidal male. He was seen point a gun at himself and firing a few rounds into the air. After maintaining a perimeter, police were able to speak with the 25-year-old male throughout the night to develop a relationship.

On Sunday afternoon, the male was convinced by neighbors to exit the building and surrender to police. He did so and was taken to St. Vincent for a psychiatric evaluation.

Residents were allowed in or out of the area, making it impossible for some people to get to work in the factories in the area Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported and police will continue to investigate before any criminal charges are filed.
